New Energy
New energy vehicles can be divided into the following two categories based on their formed parts:
(I)Aluminum alloy car body sheet metal parts
Faced with the increasingly severe environmental pollution issues, green environmental protection and energy conservation and carbon reduction have become topics of great concern and importance for enterprises worldwide. In the face of the development trend of the automotive industry, vehicle light weighting has become the current development trend. There are many benefits to light weighting the vehicle body, such as improving fuel efficiency, reducing emission pollution, enhancing acceleration performance, improving braking performance, extending component life, reducing noise and vibration, reducing inertia, enhancing collision safety, and enhancing product features, among others. Compared to ultra-high-strength steel sheets and carbon fiber composite materials, aluminum alloy materials have better comprehensive performance in terms of cost, manufacturing technology, mechanical properties, and sustainability. Therefore, aluminum alloy is the preferred lightweight metal material in the current and future automotive industry. How to deal with aluminum alloy car body sheet metal parts and improve product yield, precision, and production capacity is of utmost importance.
Aluminum alloy sheets not only have high strength but also are difficult to control, prone to surface damage, and high in cost. Therefore, it is crucial to improve production line capacity while ensuring yield.
Compared to traditional automotive sheet metal lines, aluminum plate high-speed line technology faces several challenges:
- There are two treatment methods for the surface: oil coating and wax coating. The stacking of materials in different piles is disadvantageous and cannot adapt to the speed increase of production capacity, limiting efficiency.
- The thickness of the plate is between 0.8 to 3.0mm, non-magnetic, and prone to deviation during de-stacking and transmission, unable to adapt to the speed increase of production capacity, limiting efficiency.
- The material selection has a strength ranging from 125 to 590 MPa, making it difficult to form and prone to rebound. In traditional intermittent stamping production, it cannot adapt to the speed increase of production capacity, limiting efficiency.
- Aluminum chips are easily produced during edge trimming punching and flanging finishing processes. Mold heating also tends to stick to the mold and aluminum chips. In traditional intermittent stamping production, it cannot adapt to the speed increase of production capacity, limiting efficiency.
In response, Chin Fong, as the comprehensive solutions provider, has significantly upgraded the production line. We've implemented double-row air knives, mechanical claw assistance, and automatic side blocking devices to address aluminum sheet separation challenges. Additionally, we've introduced stamping-specific synchronous linkage technology and advanced single-arm transmission to enhance production efficiency and mold alignment accuracy. These upgrades ensure improved performance while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
In the new energy vehicle manufacturing sector, we have successfully implemented relevant technologies in several advanced Chinese enterprises. The highest production cycle for aluminum sheets has reached 15 cycles per minute.
(II)Battery Pack Components
Amid the global shift towards carbon neutrality and the phasing out of traditional gasoline vehicles, there's a rising demand for new energy vehicles like HEVs, BEVs, and FCEVs. This trend is boosting the production of power batteries, including their structural components such as casings, cover plates, and explosion-proof films. Achieving high precision and equipment stability is critical in manufacturing these components, with a transition from imported Japanese equipment to domestically-produced ones underway.
Shell casings, predominantly aluminum, with Al3003-H14 material having a yield strength exceeding 140MPa, face die jamming due to significant energy consumption despite low force requirements. Circular casings, ranging from pre-nickel-plated steel to aluminum alloys, vary in cost and mechanical performance, influencing equipment selection. From 18650 to 21700 and now 4680, the increasing size of products demands larger tonnage requirements. Specialized molds, often modular, pose challenges in multi-process deep drawing, especially with high-cylinder square casings reaching depths of 300mm.
Stamp cover plates, such as ultra-thin 3003 variants, rebound after deep drawing, requiring high-precision presses with pressure-retaining curves. Rising efficiency demands escalate equipment SPM requirements, leading to mold heating and product sticking, necessitating immediate cooling water and ample deep drawing oil. Chin Fong addresses these challenges with dedicated presses for battery casings and cover plates, along with mold bias analysis and data reports for end users.
In the realm of power battery structural components, we've integrated relevant technologies into production lines of renowned Chinese manufacturers. Collaborating with industry leader CATL, we continuously innovate and develop future-oriented equipment.
